Dealing with stress and boosting your energy levels

We all have days when we feel completely exhausted, it feels like our energy level is at absolute zero. It is a wonder if you can even manage to read one paragraph from your book before you go to bed or watch something on TV for longer than 10 minutes before you hopelessly fall asleep. Although this doesn’t happen very often, when it does it feels like we are so overwhelmed and are literally done with everything.

What leads to this complete physical and mental exhaustion?

Is it the stress and anxiety of starting a new endeavor – doing something out of your comfort zone that makes you extremely uncomfortable or have we taken too much on, whether at work or at home? In both cases, you are anxious and nervous of how to approach the new adventure, or you are stressed and overwhelmed with so many tasks that you don’t even know where to start.

The new undertaking has so many unknowns that scare you and make you even more apprehensive.  Every person at some point has experienced something similar, whether that is fear of flying, speaking publicly or simply even socializing in a new environment. How many times have you said yes to something and then you thought I will figure it out when it comes down to it? If yes, you know when the date of this new endeavour approaches, you almost can’t sleep because of the anticipation, adrenaline and even secretly excitement?

If you are overwhelmed with too many tasks and you are operating on a continuous ‘high alert’ mode, how difficult must be to break this pattern.

Channeling the reactions in your body and brain

The question is how to channel all these reactions in your body and brain into something that boosts your energy instead of consuming literally all your energy.

If your exhaustion comes from anxiety from starting something new, what might help is to write down which aspects scare you the most and why? Break it down into small pieces so instead of dealing with one big thing you can tackle everything one by one. Same applies for the situations when you might feel stressed from too much going on. Write down the things that you absolutely have to do, the ones that you can do later and finally decide which ones to drop. That will ease your burden. And give yourself time to relax and recharge after the closure of every task or a project. Then you can take the next project on with a little bit more excitement and I bet every accomplishment will boost your energy levels.

As for taking out the anxiety out of starting something new, another helpful tip might be to give yourself enough time to familiarize with your new challenge. Don’t wait for the last minute, starting on time will ease your anxious reaction every time you think about it. Unless you are last minute wizard who manages to handle everything flawlessly on the spot. But if you are that wizard, you probably wouldn’t start preparing for it, I presume 😊

By making this big thing smaller and getting to know more and more about the subject, this will hopefully take away your stress and leave you with only the excitement which in turn is a great energy booster!

Go Blossom!
